What bugs me about the "cloud" terminology is that it's nothing more than good old traditional "hosted services" which have been around for years and years. I don't know what it is about "cloud" that bugs me, but I just loath the term "cloud" (even though I love the actual clouds in the sky). Maybe it's because those clouds are so natural, fluffy and harmless yet our human made clouds are so dark, gloomy and full of human flaws.

the benefits of cloud computing are inevitable and the scope of service can not be denied for the public utilities and service sector too. But there has been many areas of concerns for the users in terms of data evacuation, firewall issues and other technical aspects which no one particularly has put light on. I think that it is the high time for the IT companies to uplift the challenges by developing strong risk management strategies and raise the potential of cloud services beyond the contemporary boundaries in order to encourage the companies to embrace the CC.

Agile may have been around for a while but sometimes it takes small things to elicit big changes. The little ships were necessary to evacuate Dunkirk but apart from annual reunion events, I cannot think of another deployment. We need to bear this in mind with current HMG thinking and not use agile methods and frameworks as a 'bail out exercise'. Agile ways really have matured but continue to evolve - 17 years for DSDM - and it has been used successfully in HMG during that time, just not from a corporate viewpoint. With careful management of the education of the public sector into agile ways of thinking, working and deployment we could see a radical change in the behaviour of both suppliers and customers to deliver value in public sector change management programmes.
For that to happen HMG needs to ensure that agile companies, usually SMEs, can get through the procurement maze that currently precludes the purchase of value for money services for the taxpayer.
