Last week we discussed the client interface, the last feature I want to talk about is Enterprise Voice. Sadly there is not enough space to discuss everything so I will focus of a few parts of Enterprise Voice.

Last week we discussed the integration with Skype, now on to the client interface.

Lync now uses a Quick Lync bar to provide more functionality with less clutter. The Quick Lync bar has buttons that are revealed when you hover over a contact’s photo. You can start a chat, a call, a video call, or view a contact card with a single click.

Lync 2013 release version will be upon us soon. What can we expect to see? I want to have a look at this in two parts. The first part will be looking at the client, or the user experience if you like. The second part will have a look at some of the enhancements on the server side.

The final four months of 2011 saw the number of users of Windows XP drop dramatically, with the result that Windows 7 is now projected to become the most widely-used desktop operating system by April, several months earlier than previous estimates.
